Default Gude Bullfrog head package

Has any one tried the Gude Bullfrog head package for the H23A? I'm thinking about getting it but would like to know if anyone has experience with one - idle quality - actual power increase, etc.

Using with APEXi N1 exhaust, DC Sports 2 piece header, DC sports DAC intake.

I got the Gude head package. 165 WHP when I was done. It might be alittle higher for you with an exhaust.

It took me 10 months to get my 550.00 core charge back.

The keepers needed to be milled when I had the Guides done in April of 2002 when I rebuilt my motor. The keepers were killing my valve seals.

So that is my take on Gude. Good product but I had to wait on my core refund and the quality control killed me. I pulled the headoff and replaced the seals once and put it back on when it ate up the seals again. Then had a machine shop look at it and they fixed it when they did my short block.

It runs great now.

Have fun.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking about keeping my head (just incase, who knows), so I'm not too worried about the core.

How is the idle? I'm not familiar with the duration and overlap on the stock cams, so I don't know how to gauge the Gude cams with that package.

Idle is fine. The lift is more than stock not sure about duration.

Are you going to buy a head and send it off cause that is the best bet. How much is Bill going to charge you for a head?

I haven't called Gude yet, I was still researching. I found the head package at http://www.mmrusa.com/gudehead.htm for $1682 plus $500 core. Not sure if that is a good price yet, until I call Gude (since their site says "Buy Direct now and save").

Do you know if the valves are larger? Would you say that the head made a significant difference (over just cams and throttle body). If not, maybe I'll just go with the cams and throttle body.

Valves ae the same diameter. Same stock springs. Head, intake and TB are ported to match.

Iwould say that the head made a difference.

Iwould also check to see if you need a ECU and injectors. I think that is next for me.

Good luck

If you do get a head package, make sure you have a good bottom end. If you put a fresh stock head, much less a performance head on a bottom end that has a lot of miles, the next thing you will be replacing is your piston rings.
