Looking at buying... (need advice)
Hey everyone,
I'm currently doing some research on a few cars, because I plan on purchasing a car in early 2004. I've made my MAIN concerns clear with myself, and decided to stay within the Honda/Acura family. I am currently looking at either an Acura Integra (1994 +) or a Honda Prelude (1997 +), keeping in mind the car will most likely be used (2nd Hand).
I was wondering what in specific I should be looking for (other than the obvious, personal comfort with the car...) Also, if any of you have any suggestions of cars I should be taking a look at, be sure to let me know. I'm working with a (up to) $CDN18 000 budget...
It's also been brought to my attention that it's reccomended to just get a car regardless of miles, and swap the engine (which I plan on taking care of regardless of the mileage/car.)
Thanks a million,
Looking forward to what you guys have to say!

Just curious as to why you are looking to swap the engine automatically.. Usually the engines on these cars are the strongest parts of the car. Other things will need to be replaced before the engine itself. (Assuming no mods)....
The Integra and Prelude are pretty similar cars....the Integra (especially the type R) is somewhat more primitive and harsh in its feel and driveability. The Prelude, while definitely being a "drivers" car, is more driver friendly, and is somewhat more refined in its ride....
The power in the Integra coupe or sedan is much less than the 5th gen Prelude. Very little power down low, but the higher you rev, the bigger the grin on your face!! Other than the type R Teg, the Prelude is considerably faster. I dont know the numbers off the top of my head.
Again..I wouldnt worry about swapping engines as the honda 4 cyls are strong as hell. If you want speed, compare the Type R to the Lude.
Either way...you cant lose...both cars are winners!!!

If you get a 5th gen prelude, it'll have an h22 already in it. Put 3000 dollar turbo kit on it. why spend 3000 on a new engine for 20 more hp when you could buy a turbo kit and get like 100+ hp. Drive the stock motor for a while, prelude engines are quick to begin with, when you finally get one and drive it you'll realize engine swaps are really only worth it if your current engine doesn't work, or you have alot of money to spend.
you can buy my prelude....
