Default Valve adjustment help

I recently adjusted my valve clearance on my 93 Prelude 2.3. I did it to my manual's specs which was .007ex and .004int. I double checked the clearances then took it for a drive. It ran fine, but when I popped the hood after it was warmed up, it smelled like something was burning. I am worried that I might have done the clearance too tight burning the valves.
Any input would be great.

Did you make sure to do the valve adjustment when the motor is <100 degrees? Its best to let it sit overnight.

Pop it open and double check your gaping when the motor cools off.

Yeah, I did it on a cool motor, also it is not a burning oil smell, more of a burning plastic smell, but not quite.

you're sure it was cold, and not just cool? Usually the best thing to do is let it sit for a good 12-24 hours. You probably did that part right anyway. Lol, cross your fingers, maybe it was just a plastic bag.
