Whats up everyone. I've been driving my '95 Accord for 5-6 years, and I am ready for a change. I considered a 240sx, but those Nissan bastards bash on Hondas so much, I don't want to be ASSociated with them. I want a Lude, and I want it now!

Can people tell me what the difference in the 5th gen Preludes are by year (if there are any)? I already know the diff between base, and SH but that is all. I am considering the earliest 5th gen as of right now (97) because it's the cheapest. Please let me know!

 

5th gens come in two models, Type SH and base. The SH comes with an h22a4 and has an atts tranny. The Front suspension is different too. The Sh also comes with a leather shift knob and a spoiler. The base model still has an h22 but it doesn't have the atts tranny.

 

What is the difference between 97, 98, 99, 00, etc?

Also, is the automatic w/sportshift worth getting? I've always wanted manual, but in case someone needs to borrow my car I considered the auto.

 

97-98 SH and 5spd base has 195hp. sportshift has 190hp.
99+ SH and 5spd base has 200hp. sportshift 195hp. also 99+ models have a micron ac filter and mesh grill.
some people have had problems with the ss trannies and all honda did was extend the warranty on it for the 00-01 models.
i have a 98 prelude ss, only 18k miles and no problems.
