Default Need suggestions for Exhaust... please

Hello everyone, i am about to get a cat-back exhaust system, and i want a deep sounding exhaust, not a "rice" sounding exhaust, it doesnt have to be loud, just really deep. I heard the Borla exhaust for Prelude's sound niice, and the Apex'i N1 exhaust is good also, but i have no idea what these sound like. My friend, who has a Corolla was bragging about gettin a new exhaust and how deep it was going to be, and it ended up being really "ricey", or as another user put it, "fart in a can". I do not want that sound. Even if it sounds clean, but not obnoxiously loud, ill take it.
Another user suggested the Apex'i World Sport exhaust, and i checked it out, and i didnt really like how small the tip of the muffler was. I want a pretty decent size muffler tip, nothin too small and nothing too big.
I am looking to spend up to $500 on an exhaust system. If anyone has any suggestions to help me out with my decision, it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot. Later.

It's hard to suggest something that's so opinion based.

I've heard an Apex`I World Sport and don't consider it bad.

Depends how "deep" and "non ricey" you want... your not going to get a v8 sound out of a 4cyl car. Even if you could, it would just be stupid. Like a Barry White voice on Madonna.... it's just not right.

So... just listen around to diffrent peoples setups. Keep in mind also that what's on their car is not always exactly what you'll hear on your car.

Thermal, Mugen, and Apex WS are nice choices IMHO. The Thermal R&D exhaust for the 5th gen is dual tip similar to OEM and is very deep. Personally mine got annoying on the high way but others find it to be fine. I swtiched to the WS since it was said to be the quietest out there and it seems to be still. There are some times where even my WS gets a little loud but that's the nature of the game. Mugen is very nice, it makes good gains, looks good, and sounds nice but it's big bucks for being so well made, imported from Japan, and of course to pay for that Mugen name that you get with it.

I've never heard the Borla and thought it was only an axle back making it a free flowing muffler and not too much more.

I have the Apex WS and my brother the Tanabe G Medallion.

The WS is deep, but quieter than the Tananbe. The Tanabe is DEEP and LOUD, to me it gets annoying when you are on the freeway, punch it or in VTEC. But if you have a kick butt system in your car, you can't hear anything anyways....

I personally like my WS. Getting an intake helps with the low growl sound your looking to get. Don't ask me why, it just does.
