Default headers to exhaust? help! total noob here

ok so *a great friend of mine* is replacing her entire exhaust system and has no idea what to replace it with. I don't konw too much about preludes so I told her I'd ask the people who'd know best....you guys.

now at the exhaust end she wants something thats got bass, but isn't too terribly loud and doesn't sound like someone farting in a coffee can, maybe even with a removable silencer or whatnot.

now as far as the rest she wants something thats worth its value both performance wise and quality wise. she doesn't want anything huge and bling bling, but it doesn't have to be sleeper technology either (sorry if none of this makes sense I'm kinda in a hurry, she asked me to do this like a week ago and well I'm lazy)

so yea to sum it up
new exhaust, from headers to exhaust
92 prelude s
no fart cans
no bling blingage

thanks

well a lot of the aftermarket exhausts will be shiny....you can always flat black it w/high temp barbeque paint if you dont like the shinyness, as far as sounding wise, a 4 banger will never really have a really deep tone, the best sounding ones i have heard were the greddy evo catback exhaust, and apex NI catback exhaust, as far as the header goes, it wont make too much of a noise difference. The exhaust will make all the noise and it will bolt on from the catalytic converter back, let me know if theres anything else you wanna know

i'd go with DC 4-2-1 header and Apex'i world sport exhaust (isnt loud, but very deep). It has more torque then the n1 while the n1 is mroe highend. The n1 is superior to the WS, but will be a little louder.

aslo, while you're at it.... i'd get a high flow cat.

obx racing cat is great (if you can get through inspection without emissions (sp).

other wise, search around for highflow cats.

this will give it a better sound and a little more power.

DCsports 4-2-1 hearder $360 and (don't laugh it works) Pacesetter catback $179 not to pretty but it works. a complete functional exhaust for $539 from Summit racing
its a good complete exhaust - the cat for less than a big tip shiny catback exhaust

Joe, do you have to call me your ex?

My dad wanted to get me the pacesetter system from Summit. I just wanted to look around for something with a good sound. [like Joe said, "no fart can"]

Will the pace setter system be good?

Thanks,
<3 Ashleigh

If you have a 5th Gen. Prelude, IMO a header isn't going to do much for you for the amount you pay. If you look at your stock header up to an aftermarket header, they are pretty much the same size, so you're not really doing much there. The most hp you're probably get from a header is anywhere from 2-3 if that. As for exhaust, maybe look into Greddy Evo or even Mugen.

do you want more torque or highend out of your exhaust?

apex'i world sport for torque (deep sound, not loud) (i love it)

apex'i n1 for high end and bit louder.

neither of those are for a 1992 S

= (

I checked out Summit, and the only thing for my model is the pace setter. I ordered it- but am curious what kind of effect and sound i will get.
