Prelude running a little hot
Do h22a engines run hotter than normal because i noticed yesterday while sitting in traffic for awhile that my car got hotter than usuall. I just got the car 2 weeks ago and haven'
t really figured out everything about. it was 60 thoughsand on a 93 prelude vtec. I was thinking i mihgt have to replace the headgasket already or flush the cooling system. The antifreeze/cooling is filled to the max limit so that isn't the problem.

I doubt the headgasket is gone at 60K... of course, anything is possible... but my bet is that the coolant hasn't been changed in a LONG time, and has probably lost most of its cooling properties. Try a flush first.
if it was the headgasket, youd have worse symptoms then it just getting a little hot. when you say it gets a lil hotter, how much are you talking about when it is fullywarmed? Like the other guys said, the problem is either in the coolant or the thermostat, good idea to do both at once. The thing about the thermostats is, while a car may have low miles, it is still 10 years old so sometimes in the thermostats the spring gets stuck open (which causes the car to run cold) or the opposite.
You said you were sitting in traffic when this happened? If so then that could just be normal. You need air flow through the radiator to keep the engine cool. When that happens, just put your heater on full blast to keep the temp from rising any higher. It'll make it crappy for you, but at least your car won't start to overheat.

good question armadillo, if yur fans arent kicking on then that could be why also, cause if you have the engine off with the ignition on and have the fans running, you can see the temp drop a little bit sometimes.....also, when you replace the thermostat, take a look at your stock one and see if the spring is collapsed...
