I haven't replaced the struts on my prelude yet, but did on my civic HB i got rid of. The back bottom struts bolts would NOT budge! I ended up snapping the head off the bolt causing more trouble. The best thing to do if you don't have a Powerful impact wrench(more than 120 psi) is just to take it somewhere and get it done. Honda said they would replace them for 55 dollars labor but i brought my car in and they wouldn't touch it because it was lowered and had aftermarket everythin on it. Just find some smaller trustworthy shop and it will save some headaches.

You don't say if it is the upper mounting or the lower bolts. A 2001 should not be that much trouble. A little PB Blaster on the exposed threads of the lower bolts works wonders. To get to the top hat you need to peel the trunk liner out of the way a little or you can go in thru the access points behind the seat-fold it down first anyway. I do hope you have your trusty spring compressor handy too.

Get a Helm - you won't regret that expense either. Good luck.
