got a :? for ya about the H22.....
well i have a teg but a good family friend has a 93 prelude vtec which has the the h22 in it correct? well anyways she was getting on the interstate the other day and popped a timing belt....so my question for you....is there enough valve to piston clearance on that engine to allow for no damage when somthing like this occurrs? the engine can spin freely right now and you don't hear any sounds of pistons and valves hitting or anything like that.....cause i know some engine have enough clearance there but i am not all that familiar with that engine.
thanx a lot guys

STOP turning the engine over, if you have already. This will do damage if it already hasn't occured. Most, if not all honda engines are interference engines which means the pistons WILL hit the valves. My T-belt broke getting off the freeway. I wasn't sure what it was at first, so like a doof I tried starting it, which probably damaged it even further than it was. I ended up bending 8 of the 16 valves. Because I removed my head and reinstalled it myself, it only cost me $212 for a shop to install new valves resurface my head. It came back looking so fresh and clean, haha. Anyway there probably was damage done, of course a friend of mine had the t-belt in her 92 civic snap and it didn't bend any valves. Well good luck!!
