Default New to preludes

Hey all,

I have recently sold my Mazda RX-7 and have been saving up a long time in the hopes of buying a Honda Prelude. However, I am not in tune with the specifics of the various models/years of Preludes. Perhaps someone could enlighten me, I know I am looking into buying the 2.2 VTEC... but what year etc. I am unsure.

Is there a best year for the preludes? And would it be possible for somone to give me a breakdown of the Generations /Years.. i.e. 1'st gen to (I think) the latest is 4'th gen? Is the SH model the one I should be looking for?

Thanks in advance for any help you can render...

Chris

for one, you had an rx-7 and you want a lude???? i hope it wasnt the last gen rx-7 :-) secondly..... unless you like the body styles of the 3rd gen ludes which are 91' down to the late 80's in the years, or want to do a swap, then id look for a 4th gen (92-96) or 5th gen (97-01)... as far as body style goes people will argue which is better all day long, it only matters which one YOU like better.... the 4th gens have the S model, which is I believe 127hp and 132ibs of torque, the SI model, which is 160hp, and the "vtec" model which is 190hp and the engine code is h22a1. For the 5th gens, there is either the base model, or the SH model. The SH model is nice, it has the ATTS (active torque transfer system) for steering, 5 spoke star rims, painted side skirts, the engine and specs on both are the same 200HP and 156ibs of torque I believe. The base model is not like buying a civic dx or something, as it is equipped with power everything, and the same motor as the SH... it would really just depend on which one you wanted/found first, and the SH will be a little more pricey. The SH is only 5spd, and the base comes with either 5spd or a SS auto tranny (which had some problems from the factory)...lemme know if you want to know anything else bout them, i dont know too much about the older gens though....

Thanks for the response,

Well I had a second gen RX-7 .... '87 GXL .. I put an HKS exhaust... a K&N intake.. cold air box... did some stuff to interior, had the engine Street ported... never had time/money for a body kit. It was a nice car... was'nt turbo though which was a shame... but it was fast...

Well I am thinking that I definitly want a 5'th Gen.. definitly manual transmission... I really do like the body of the 5'th gens... Since I am out to look for my dream car I might as well try to find an SH model. I have $19,500 canadian saved up... I have seen a few in Ontario that I could get... I will have to check it out..

Thanks again if I have any other questions maybe I can PM ya or something!

Thanks again! I will post some pics when I buy my prelude
