i think you have some wires crossed. the only H23 vtec was in an SIR-T accord wagon over in japan. the H23A1 engine is a DOHC non-vtec engine here in the US. which was found in the 92-96 Si model. there was no vtec model shipped to the US in 92. the first year of a vtec prelude in the US was the 93 model, using an H22A1 engine. the current vtec engine is an H22A4.

93-96 H22A1 - 190hp
97-98 H22A4 - 195hp
99-01 H22A4 - 200hp

there's some weight difference between the body styles and the SH models. but really nothing to significant, nothing a good stripping out of the interior couldnt take care of. people will say the 93 VTEC was the fastest, because it was lighter, but in actuality its only lighter by like 100lbs or so maybe. same goes with the non-SH and SH models in the 5th gen. if i had a choice i would buy a non-SH 5th gen and put an aftermarket LSD in. it would handel better and prolly be cheaper.

don't get an sh cause you can't get a turbo for it unless you get custom fabricated everything, and then you will still run into problems cause the atts unit cannot handle the horsepower. i have an sh and traded it out the tranny and computer for a base model.

what are you talking about? what do you mean the SH model 'cant handle the hp' ?

you can get a tubro setup done without geting "all" custom stuff.. just have to look around.

i've seen turbo'ed SH's and i've never heard them complain..

they may be able to handle the hp, but i know torque wise they suck. the atts unit was made for people who weren't planning on doing a lot of mods, but also have superior handling ability. you might want to check your sources a little more.
