Default something must be done for 97-01 SS preludes...

most of you may or may not know about this article:
http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/...warranty_x.htm

jeff (speedy1882) just called me balling his eyes out b/c even under his extended warranty honda would not cover the cost of a new transmission.. he's had a few tranny problems already...

i brought this up with preludeonline.com... we are one of a few large honda enthusiast sites... we have to do something....

The recall DOES cover 2000-2001 sport shift Preludes. If he has a 1997-99 model, there must be something different or irrelavent to the recalled models for Honda not to extend it to the 97-99 models. Honda has had the majority of the problems with the TL-S five speed sport shift. But even at that, there is a 1.6% failure rate.

Friend should've done it right the first time and bought a 5spd. He wouldn't be going through this problem then...

Unfortunatly for people like me that took the auto when it was avaliable... don't have the abilty to just switch. The damage has been done and this is what we are stuck with.

I'd love to have a 5spd... now. But not when I first got it. I didn't think I would have as much fun as it is. Now I see this, but it's too late for "I told you so" or "well you should have..."

Luckily for me it's just a regualr automatic, not the sport shift. 96 didn't have them.

I think they should be coverd by warrenty. But what can I do?

if you have a 4th gen.. there is no way in heck you'll get something like that...

and the design from 97-99 did not change in 00-01.. honda described it as "bad materials".... honda autos never have been the best..

and gawd forbid someone doesn't get a 5spd...some people don't get 5spds b/c sport shift is fun and a lot of people live in the city and getting a 5spd is just annoying as hell in city traffic.. or there was no choice when you're buying used.. it's near impossible to find a wonderful 5th gen used.....

but jeff's dealership said they'd "take care of it" so he won't have to pay for the new tranny....
