Default Simple Key FOB Question

Ok, I bought a 1998 Prelude and the guy I got it from doesn't have any of the factory keyfobs. He gave me this POS little cheap plastic wanna be key fob. Now my question is if I buy a factory FOB can i program it with my honda?
So question is if I buy a FACTORY key fob will it work? P.S. i know it needs to be programmed.

what do you mean? a clicker is a clicker to me :dunno:

I'd say just find a universal one that you like and have a security place program that if the way it looks/feels is that much of a problem

Because the one that he gave me is a piece of crap it's ready to fall apart and he only gave me one. I know this isn't the original...all I'm asking is if I buy an original replacement it should work correct?

I would guess your car doesn't have a OEM keyless system as it was a option until 99 where it was standard... otherwise the previous owner wouldn't have installed a aftermarket keyless system if your going to do that might as well get a alarm installed with keyless .

Ok, great I didn't even think about it not being standard. Thanks alot, I'll look into this a little more. I just don't like how cheap the aftermarket remotes are. Does anybody know of a company that makes a good Remote that wont break easily?

Just go buy one from a security store, shouldn't be more than $20 and they'll match the IR codes... otherwise your going to have to fool with programming yourself.

overall most IR remotes are pretty much the same in terms of quality- i wouldn't worry too much
