Default DIY Lug Stud removal for 5 Gen

First I have already done a search and I have a Helms but cannot figure out how to change the stud. I have everything off but cannot get the stud out. I havent removed the hub from the knuckle but looking at the pictures it looks like you need a press to take them off. Is there a way to change out the lug studs without taking off the hub??? Thanks in advance.

one side of the head of the new stud will need to be grinded down flat by about 3-4mm iirc so that it will go in straight, then use the wheelnut to pull it through fully.

I was thinking of doing that but would it ruin the integrity of the wheel/hub?
