Default If I remove the cat.....

I want to remove the catalytic converter on my 97 prelude. Can I do this and trick my o2 sensors so I don't get a CEL????

Unless you're building a 500hp track-only drag car, leave the catalytic converter on.
It simply isn't worth turning a clean running daily driver into a gross polluter for 2 to 3 hp.

Hence why I was asking, but thanks for driving the point home

And with a metaphorical sledgehammer, no less.

Like it or not, we all have to take some responsibility for the planet we live on. Just because you can get away with it doesn't mean it's the right thing to do.

Well put.

I was considering removing mine a while back, just wanted to see what it was like without it.
I figured I'd put it back on at a later date, but I still felt just a bit guilty about it, so unless it's clogged to the point where the car barely runs, it stays put.

Combination of guilt and laziness h:

OP, if you are dead set on gaining slightly more horse with the cat.. there's the possibility of find a "racing" cat, which may be a bit less restrictive..
