Default 2000 Manual Trans Problem

After a bad shift at peak rpm going onto 3rd, got a gear grinding sound, backed off and got it in 3rd. The next day, when I tried to put it in reverse, I found it won't shift into reverse. I've usually had to put it in 1st and roll forward to get it into reverse. But now the shifter won't move back where reverse is. I bought the car new in '99, and have 76k miles.

Anyone had this problem?

I've pulled the console and looked at the shift cables at both ends. They don't seem to be adjustable.

Help,
Doug

try running the shifter through all the gears, 1st to 5th, then reverse.

Update - Pulled the trans and found a bad syncro, hub, sleeve and shift forks. My local dealer price matches Majestic/Hondaautomotiveparts.com I've spent about $300 on parts. Will put it back together next week.

When I first bought this car 10/99- I became a member of this forum, or at least one of the same name. Back then it had very many well informed and helpful members.

This does not seem like the same place???
