Q about shifting an auto-manual transmission
My question is really in regards to the 07 MDX, but I didn't not get any reponses there, so I though I'd try in this forum since there seem to be more viewers here and I assume that the Prelude has an auto-manual transmission option.
Is it normal for Honda auto-manual transmissions to resist up-shifting into a higher gear if the accelerator is at least half depressed? It seems to make the decission for me that I should not be in higher gear if I want to accelerate hard. I end up having to check my dash to see what gear I'm in instead of just counting the number of lever tips. Seems pretty lame. Is there anyway to rectify that, perhaps with an aftermarket transmission chip? I had another car that didn't resist upsifting, but it down shifted without being asked but when provoked with agressive use of the accelerator pedal. Do Honda trannies upshift at redline or just bounce off of the rev limiter? I haven't broken in my car yet, so I haven't tried that...
Thanks in advance.

You can't shift in a manual with the gas down and then bring the clutch up, its gonna slip......So foot off the gas for a quick second shift and mash
I would expect it to upshift to prevent damage

I'm talking about shifting an automatic with the sport shifter, if that wasn't clear. I know how to drive a manual transmission better than an automatic... It doesn't make sense to lift throttle during shifts in an auto-manumatic...
I don't think damage would occur if it has a rev limiter, it will keep cutting off the fuel to prevent over-rev, like in the CX-9 I tested.
So the Prelude is not available with the automanumatic transmission?
