Default prelude h22a1 problems

Are the eg civics a whole lot heavier than my 95 lude vtec all stock. my friend has a 95 civic ex all stock 5spd and me and him raced the other night and i beat him by only a car if that. we even swaped cars and raced again and it turned out about the same, could it be that my prelude has 210,000 miles. It seems to lag and bogg out in low rpms but even around 6500 it dosent pull as much as a h22 prelude should. IDK if my tranny is stock because i topped it out at 125mph at 7,300 rpms, i think the gears are too short because my buddies civic does 120 at 6,500The motor runs good tho theres no unusual noices and it idles almost perfect. I also raced a 02 lancer OZ rally edition on the freeway and he pulled on me by like half a car untill we hit 115 and his governer kicked in. any suggestions, what would be a good mod with good improvment like say a catback exhaust

No, the EG civics are much lighter than the Preludes.
But you should be beating him by alot more than that...

If you're tranny was geared that short, it would only HELP your acceleration not make it slower... And if you're getting beat by EX's then I'm not sure what to tell you.

Only thing I can think of, is your compression is very, very low. Given the high miles, your piston rings are prob shot, and most of your compression is being lost into the crankcase... Do you burn oil?
Do a compression and leak-down test.

Unless the air filter is clogged or bad, I don't see how you can be so slow.

I would worry about replacing the rings (if they are bad) or getting the motor looked at, before wasting money on a cat back exhaust that will only hurt power rather than help.

Bottom line is something is wrong. No way an EX can hang with a VTEC lude. Or an OZ lancer for that matter.
