Default recommended speakers????

I do not want to spend alot of cash on speakers for my 93 Prelude, but I want good sound. What do you guys recommend? I am only talking of the doors and rear deck. I was thinking of the Polk Audio DB6500 for the front with either the DB650 or MMC650 for the rear. I am also looking at a new CD player too (maybe Alpine CDA-9831)...Suggestions? Feedback? I do have an Alpine amp and sub that I will be running. If you have any of this stuff forsale, e-mail me with specs. Thanks, GGflyguy@aol.com

K I did some research. I have had, and worked with car audio since I was 15 (ten years).

THAT would be one clean sounding system. As for your head unit. I know alpine is good, check out this link. You can compare different head units, and customer reviews. Ive had lots of clarions, the sound quality is great but havent had good luck with longevity.

**Helps if I post the link. Also I would go with the MMC650 because they have the swiveling tweeter and a more durable cone to resist the sun. Swiveling tweet makes a big differance because the high sounds are more directional.

Sounds like a downgrade to me. I would NEVER buy stereo equipment from Walmart. Kicker and kenwood have a good name, Polks better.

he said he didnt have tons of money to throw at it. they sell pioneer sony and some other shit, and ANY aftermarket speaker other than a fuckin rampage is better than stock. so i dont think it would be a downgrade

Well, I went to Electronic express and they had the Polk on sale. I bought the Db-6500 for the front and the db-650 for the rear all for $200. Now I need a decent head unit. I really like Alpine. Iam looking at the CDA-9856 (approx. $200). Any one have a Alpine head unit with three sets of Pre-outs? Thanks, Greg.

those polk compenents(not sure if thats the db6500 or not) are really crisp and clear.. and the polk 650's are good 2ways for the back. they sound relaly good, better amped though.a good buy and good quality.

OH MY GOD!!!! I bought the Alpine head unit too and just finished installing it all. I could not believe how good it sounds. I put the components in the front in factory locations, with the coaxial 2 ways in the rear deck. I ran everything through a Alpine five channel amp that I had with a 12 inch Alpine sub in the trunk. I do have to admit that it will probably take me a little while to figure out the headunit controls, but it kicks a$$!!!
