Funny smell
I own a 1998 Prelude, bought it new and now has 40.000km on it.
If I drive the car fast and when shifting through the gears up to just about red line rpm, I smell something that smells like burning oil. It's the kind of smell as if oil is burning on a hot exhaust.
Can anyone tell me what this is?

If it smells like burning oil, it might be... *GASP* burning oil.
Might be normal if the smell isn't too strong. When was the last time you got an oil change and plugs changed?

Thanks for your reply. Oil changes and spark plug changes have been done according to the maintenance schedule.
Maybe it's normal, as it's not a very strong smell.
Oil level seems to be ok as well.

how is the valve cover gasket? mine has started leaking on the backside above the oil filter and smells when the engine is hotter after acceleration
also, when you are at wide open throttle the engine goes into rich mode an disregards the o2 sensors. this in combination with high revs, high temp, and slightly floating valves the engine is allowed to burn some oil. the reason why you would be smelling it? check the trunk gasket. at speed vacuum is created behind the car so exhaust can be sucked into the cabin.
