More 00" prelude problems
Hey all....first i want to say thanks for helpin me fix many other problems with my car, but guess what i have a new one.....
okay for some reason i hear this weird noise coming from my right rear tire (sounds like the sound you would hear if you were driving off the side of the road while on the interstate, or like something is stuck on the tire), when driving(and also the noise kinda goes away when in a right turn). It first started happeneing during a 360mi trip, and has been happening ever since....on my end, i swapped the right wheel with the left wheel, to factor out the wheel itself, and of course the noise is still there. And also, when i closed my trunk earlier today, i heard another weird noise, coming from the same area, but this time it sounds like a noise a loose spring would make. On that note, i didnt try to do anything else, and well does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be???

maybe a wheel bearing. Jack the car up and wiggle the wheel top to bottom. (push and pull the top and bottom of the wheel) If it wiggles substantially, bad wheel bearing. Although, it may still be bad, even if it doesn't wiggle. also, make sure the wheel is torqued down. I had a noise in the back of my car once and couldn't figure out what it was for like a week. It turned out I had loose lugnuts. I didn't even check because it was such a simple thing, I thought there was no way I could've overlooked it. Good thing I caught it when I did. My wheel was about to fall off. Also, check all wheels. When I had that mystery noise, (it was in my crx) it sounded like it was coming from the passenger front axle, but it was actually the driver's rear wheel. Stupid phantom noises.
well, you were right....i took off my wheel, and looked around, and no visible damage (thank god),but when i rotated it, with wheel on and off, it was very obvious that the bearings were bad...you can hear them hahahahah, anywho, thanks for the help...right now, im pulling up the repair books to go on and get on it.........hopefully they just need some greasing up, and not replacement.....anywho thanks again.....peace
wheel bearings have to be pressed in with a hydraulic press at your local machine shop or most mechanics have a press if they do wheel bearings on a regular basis. Also, I don't mean to sound dumb, but are you sure you have a bad bearing? You have to wiggle the wheel, NOT ROTATE IT, to determine if you have a bad bearing. From the sound you described though, it sounds like a bad bearing. Oh and I correct myself, for the rear wheels, you may be able to pull the bearing with a bearing puller, and possibly tap a new one in with a rubber mallet. I'm not sure really, as I've never replaced a rear one, but I know for the front's, you have to take the whole knuckle out of the car to have the bearings pressed out and in.
