I have a 92 prelude with the 2.2L F22b or w/e, and i'm getting ready to put the H22B motor in, and i was wondering if i could use my original tranny on the new motor or do i have to get the one that is the exact compatability with it.

 

you can use that transmission with a flex plate adapter IIRC

honestly though, i'd look into just buying the full motor with the transmission. that way you'll be sure to have the correct gearing and not the taller f22 gears.

i dont think things would match up-- i think the H2B only works out if you are using a car with a civic based chasis-- but i'm probably wrong

i was going to suggest it but i figured i'd like to keep everything on topic this time. of course it couldn't happen.

 

F and H series 5sp trannys are interchangeable only drayback is the gearing.

 

the F tranny has gears that are way too tall and long. the car will still be slow with those gears. go with the H tranny. you'll see.
