Default Oil burning..plz help!!!

I am new to this. I just purchased a 93 honda prelude si 4ws..it has 121,000 miles on it. I am pretty clueless on cars. And I need some expert opinions on what could be wrong. I test drove the car, brought it to a mechanic before I purchased the car. I knew it needed tires, and a new radiator. The car runs fine..and but I have a question for all you brillant men and women out there..I just changed the oil on the car..and since then I have had a burning oil smell when I drive it or leave it running..I dont know if that is normal for an older car or not...it just freaks me out..

The second question I have is when I drive like 65 or 70 mph..my rpm's are at 3200 or so..I know this is a 4 cyl..and I used to drive an 03 eclipse that was a v-6 and when I drove that fast in the eclipse..It only rev'd to about 3000 rpm..what could be the problem with it revving so high..is that normal on a used car? Could it be the transmission (the car is an automatic)..

I am nervous because this is my first used car..and I would love to know more about cars..I like this car..and it rides good..I am just worried that it will have alot of problems that are going to creep up on me..I would appreciate anyone that could help..it would ease my mind..all my male friends have no clue on what is wrong..

Thanks

Some oil could have gotten on the exhaust system in the process of changing, which would generate a burning smell for a couple of days.

Yep, oil on the exhaust or engine block. When I had my oil changed last the same thing happened to me. Smell will last 4-7 days. About the revs, I wouldn't worry about that. The auto preludes are 4 speeds, so at highway speeds, instead of being in 5th gear at like 1500-2000 rpms, they will be in 4th gear at 3500 rpms or so. It is just geared differently than a 5 speed is. Oh, and my friend down the street from me has a 93 prelude automatic with 198,000 miles on it, so I wouldn't worry too much as long as you take care of it.

everytime i change my o-filter it runs directly onto exhaust pipe. spray off with brakecleaner next time and wipe with a rag. that should keep it from smelling. @ 70mph in 5th gear in my lude im at like 3.5k--normal operation

Default girl you need a gear headed man in your life

ok ya unless you are seeing blue smoke out the rear of the exhaust pipe at any time then there is just oil that dripped down on the exhaust pipe and or block and if infact you keep smelling this smell just keep checking your oil every other day to make sure whatever bonehead it was that changed your oil, tightened down the drain bolt/oil filter tight enough or if there really dumb they tightened them too far and said oh well its a chick by the time she notices I fucked up it'll be October. so dont freak out and go get a man with some brainpower so you can keep your lude running.
