Default Wireing guide/engine bay pics?

Hey, just found myself back to HAN after ages with the purchase of a 98 Prelude. Its been 'worn-in' pretty well, and some previous owner (I am the 5th) clearly had little idea about electronics and whatever audio system they had in there has leftover wires everywhere. The worst seems to be in the engine bay where they have attached a number of wires directly off the battery terminals (where they go I don't know yet, but I doubt anywhere good). Does anyone have a proper wireing guide or a picture of a clean engine bay so I can judge what should get out and where I should reroute the keepers?

The h22 has been fun though. Seems to have more pickup than my old DOHC Del Sol, and it sure would beat my d16 Sol Si and Civic dx hands down.

There are random gauge wires all wrapped around both the positive and negative terminals. It seems some previous owner took the MC Escher approach to auto electronics. :crazyr: This is not to even begin to mention the assortment of cut wires found all in the cabin, the best is the wire in the trunk (for a sub/amp combo I presume). Its about 3/4 inch thick! Looks like its better suited for a telephone pole. But, even with all these wires everywhere, the car runs great and all I need to do is clean them out, I just dont want to accidently cut something vital in my crusade.

I would remove all those wires unless you use them....The only wires off of the batter should Be (+) (-) thats it.....there should be nothing else running off of the battery.......A repair manual will also be a good investment

^ yeah. The reason I asked what they were is because it sounded like a grounding kit probably, but after your second discription, it's not. So you should have 1 or 2 4 gauge wires running off each terminal, that's it.

By my last count there were 4 going off and 4 returning to each terminal, maybe thats normal for a Prelude, I honestly have little knowlege of the electronics of this car, and it seems from the posts here that 4 wires off each terminal is not correct. I figured it was something I could work with over the weekend, I do hope to get a Chiltons for it soon but I know I wont have one in hand by tomorrow. Nobody has a stock engine bay they could closeup on the battery for me? I think I'm just gonna get my local shop to work it over when I bring it in to tighten the rear sway bar. I just wanted to be sure the previous owner hadnt rerouted something vital onto one of these excess wires... guess thats best left to someone with more knowlege. $10 says they put the starter or the fuel pump on one of them for no reason at all.

http://www.hondahookup.com/manuals/

^Register there (free) then you can download a full shop manual for a Prelude, which will be very helpful for a lot of things, including in this case the wiring diagram... If it's not just too confusing. I wouldn't take it to a shop, waste of money. If you want to wait until tomorrow afternoon I can post a closeup of my battery terminals. Negative has 2 wires, one grounding on the radiator support, the other somewhere I havn't cared to look, positive has 3 wires, one either going to the alternator or starter, don't remember which, another to everything else, and a 3rd going to my amps.

Okay, and the battery's going to be different? And yeah, yeah, i hate my car enough thank you. I'm too broke (no time for work. College + track + SigEp + commute) to try this again: (F22/h23 hybrid. Wrong headgasket = blew = mom made me get another F22 = stuck with slowness until I get money for boost. Bastards at CB7tuner said F23a1 gasket, should have imported an F22B.)
