racing/performance chips
I have a 98 prelude base model, havent had much time or money to do much to it yet, i only have cold air intake and exhaust, i wanted to get my computer chiped next and i've heard several suggestions. Some people tell me to ship my computer and have it done through a company online, others say to do it locally. This is my first car, im pretty new to modding so i just wanted some advice on what would be best as far as what type and brand of chip to get and possible places to get it.. thanks any advice is appreciated. ..
Chipping isnt gonna do anything for your car
There are plenty of options for you to consider
1. intake
2. exhuast
3. header
4. Boost?
It all depends what you wanna go for show/performance/handling?

But it also tunes your VE tables so that you don't run too rich or lean. Hardly pointless in my opinion!!! If you have mods on your car then it is always a good idea to get it tuned. Even stock cars benefit from a "custom" tune. Although now, I'm finding out that you can't even do a custom Honda tune unless the car is a manual transmission. I was looking for tuning software myself this evening and hondata is the only thing that is really available to us!! But like I said if you run auto then you can't do much about a tune anyway.
Oh and to further answer your question...mail order tunes are pretty worthless. Reason being is that they don't know your exact climate conditions so they can't tune for the EXACT temp, MAFS calibrations, and so on. Local tuners can tune your vehicle right there in your climate and actually see how your car takes to the new tune and make final adjustment to remove any KR, rich or lean conditions, and even advance or retard timing. They also have controll over your PE table so you can engage it sooner.
i think u should get ur ecu chip thats wat i did to my 93 h23 i took mine to a shop and they has the chip ready to install. cams are exellent if u are going to chip ur ecu because u can have u car redline over 8000 rpm mines goes to 8200rpm. if ur planning to get if off ebay stop, do not try it they are a big rip off i suggust u find a shop that will chip ur ecu for u
