Default Rev limit issues, PLEASE HELP...

Okay, so I just bought a 99 prelude 2 days ago. (Automatic w\ sequential) Anyway, today I went into VTEC with it for the first time and it pulls good and sounds great, but I hit the rev limiter way before redline in first gear. The car was warmed up, and everything is good (no check engine light\codes). I think the rev limiter came on at about 6800 rpm or so, and redline is at 7500, right? So is my tach off or is it something else maybe?

Maybe its just a precautionary thing for 1st gear......try it in 3rd or 4th and see what happens......I also think the autos have a lower redline.

the redline on the tach is still at 7400, but maybe the autos do have a lower rev limit. Hmmm. Anybody with an AT know this?

not a good idea to redline a auto because they have a recall on some of them.

It's an auto thing. That's why people wish they had a 5spd instead

Yeah, it doesn't do it anymore. I think maybe my engine wasn't warmed up all the way.

I never brought my car up that high though i have an auto. What gear did it happen on? Becuase i had a cel once and it seemed to cut off at 6800. I know know it cut off becuase i had a cell but i was just wondering what gear you were on.
