Default Changing to White Face gages.

Hello. I have a 99 Honda Prelude and I had a friend purchase white face gages for me online. Im pretty sure I could take apart the dash and get to them ok, but I had heard about people trying to do this and setting off their airbag. Is that a possibility or not and if so how do I disable them, and is there anything important I should know before trying this? Thanx - Jeff.

If you disconnect the battery, the airbag will not be able to fire. Check a workshop manual on airbag shut-off as well. But I know that when my friend and I were installing his head-unit on his eclipse they said to disconnect the battery to prevent firing the airbag.

duh...of course you disconnect your battery when installing a new head-unit...oi.

The airbag control unit holds power for approx 30sec. Just pull the power and wait a few minutes, you'll be fine.

alright, id suggest getting it done professional. a lof of things can go wrong when doing this. one being as you said, the airbags, two the needs break really easy and you dont want to do that, then you gotta get a whole new cluster. take it to a shop. it cant be more than 50 bucks to install.
