tough tranny

sometimes its tought to get in and out of gear, generally when i have just started it up after not driving for a few hours.
What can I do to improve/lubricate the movement in and out of gear?
is it maintainable by a non-mechanic?

Yeah, especially sometimes like going into 1st or Reverse I get it, it like goes in but doesnt go all the way into position right? But i think I got it in second gear like last week
