Default Buying a '97 Prelude or '98 Prelude SH

Hello, everybody! I'm going to look at the both cars on Monday and I would like your advise. The '97 has 80k mi and is at the dealers. '98 SH is from a guy and has 100k mi on it. If both cars are in great and running condition which one should I buy, the price difference is $300. Although, I think I can drop the price from the dealer by a good 1000 or maybe more. What will I loose if I pass on the SH? ATTS is not that big of a deal on the street right? I'm not going to take it to a track so torque transfer is not that needed. Higher comp ration and diff. cams - what is the performance difference? In other words what are the pros and cons of both cars? Should I be worried about the extra 20k mi on the '98 SH? Any input is appreciated, thanks.

Base vs SH

Some repairs will cost significantly more on the SH. IE; replacing the clutch.

Ditto. I owned a 1998 SH. Fun car, but I was always afraid of the clutch going out. I was told the clutch job would be about $800+ dollars. The ATTS is the reason for this.

omg... I never knew it cost that much to replace an SH's clutch.... I better start saving my money. Does this mean also that it would be near impossible to replace the clutch yourself???

Go with the Type SH from the person. I wouldn't buy a car from someone that didn't know the full history of the car. The dealer just buys the car wholesale or from some guy that traded it in, they don't know how the car was taken care of, or if they maintainance was followed religiously. I feel that the ATTS does make a difference, even on the street. I had a '98 Base 5MT 'Lude also, so I was able to drive them back to back. Also, if the maintainance was done, don't even worry about the mileage. My other Prelude had 265,000 miles on it. My Type SH has 113,000, runs like brand new!

Don't buy the SH if your going to Mod it.

Buy a Base..........More Parts, Easy to work on, Awsome performance, Less problems.

ATTS...!!!...........hfawk:

Install LSD in Base Model.....:goodjob:

Really like the SH, has awesome road holding, and not just because of the ATTS. Didn't know abot the clutch, but mine has 110k, still going strong.

It cost me 600 to put a new clutch in my 88...so 800 isnt that bad.
