Default speedo problem

so i have a 1986 honda prelude 2.0 si (F.I) and my speedo doesnt seem to be working right. When im driving down the road it will not work and then all of a sudden it kicks on but once i hit a bump or something it shuts off again. I went under the car and the wires do seem a bit loose. So my question is, is there a way to fix this or do i need a new speedo sensor?

Speedo sensors do die. When you take it out, check the plug and connecting ends for signs of corrosion also. I've also had to replace the plug.
