electrical problem?

Default electrical problem?

whats up guys... occasionally when im driving my 98 lude and accelerating my rpm gauge drops to zero real quick and goes back to the rpm i was at... it all happens quick... there is also a noise along with accelerating... like a faint (and annoying) whistling... any ideas? my guess is its something electrical...

Could be your distributor going. Typically on Honda's they have a sensor in the distributor that drives the tach signal. How often does this happen? Does it happen if you park the car and rev?

I thought it might be that too. If i park the car and rev, as far as I know, it does not happen. It does happen once in a blue moon while im driving. How about the whistling sound... same thing, distributor?

I don't know about the whistling. It is hard to say what it is without hearing it.
