Oil Leak
I have been having problems with a minor oil leak that just left a few drops on the ground at a time was not major at all until today. Honda had looked for it several times and they never had any luck as well anyway today on my way home from work my oil pressure light comes on. I stop right away and check it and the dipstick was dry after it was good to go last night. I added 3 quarts and got it just above the 1st dot and took it the rest of the way home about 2 miles and checked it again and same thing. I let the car cool down for a while and added more oil and cranked it up and was trying once again to see where it was coming from. All I can see though from the top is the top of the oil filter and it appears to be dry. From the bottom I cant see anything. Also when looking from the top while the car is running the oil just out and flows over a silver box right behind the oil pan. There is too much in the way so I really cant tell where its leaking from. All I could really come up with is possibly somthing with is it having somthing to do with the oil cooler or the part that connects it to the block. Any help would be great. Thanx
If the oil now is leaking more heavily a mechanic should be able to find where its coming from, if it's still under warranty take it to Honda, if not find someone else who is good with Imports. If it is the oil cooler, it might be cheaper to have someone bypass it, the oil coolers dont do shit in the first place.
Thanx for the info. I got it to the shop today and wont hear anything until tommarrow sometime. When I took it to the shop I had refilled it with oil again and it was less than 2 minutes to get there. I never really got on it but it still seemed to be running ok. No wierd noises or loss of power or anything. What Im worried about though is what are the chances that the motor may have been damaged. Yesterday as soon as the oil pressure light turned on I had the car shut down within about 10 seconds. It never flashed or anything so I am hoping for the best.

keep us informed..and update on your status.
Well I heard from the mechanic today and he found a pinched gasket between the oil cooler and the oil filter base and the gasket between the oil filter base and the block was cracked. The pinched gasket he found a replacement for right away, but the second gasket Honda does not even make anymore. Turns out the oil filter base along with that gasket have both been upgraded so we ordered the whole works and see if it will fit tommarrow. Hopefully it works out and then I can see how the motor is.
Just got the car back after the 2 gaskets were replaced and it seems to be fine. Got lucky with that one. It goes to honda in the morning for the 120k servicing and just to make sure every thing is good to go. Thanks for the help.

good to hear that your car is fine. Some pix next time is good, so the community will see what you're talking about. But good information to know
