Default Removing OEM shift knob?

I was wondering how to take off the oem shiftknob, and if there something specifec we have to remove/unscrew. Today when me and a friend were trying to install my headunit and had some trouble installing it. We got the console off, but had to work around it as the shift knob didn't want to come off. We both took turns trying to twist it off, but the darn thing didn't budge. Removing the knob would make things so much easier and faster. TIA.

Unravel the shift boot, then twist the knob left, it should have about 20 full rotations before it comes off

Yeah, it's a 4th gen 5spd.

Well, me and a friend tried to remove it buy twisting it counterclockwise but it wouldn't budge. I think some ring was attached to it, however I wasn't sure how to remove it even if I needed to:shrug:

If it's likke my 5th gen, you have to like squeeze two clips that are under the knob and the boot, it's weird.
