shift boot question

shift boot question

Ok i got a new momo shift knob and when I replaced it with the stock one the big square chrome thing just sits there and dangles around when i shift...how do I take that chrome piece off and is there a way to make the top of the boot round when you take the chrome piece off?

I just pulled the chrome piece off the boot. It still doesn't look right even with the chrome piece removed. I recommend buying an aftermarket shift boot, thats what did.
