Default Antenna won't go down

I was listening to the radio the other day and when I turned my car off, the antenna wouldn't go down. I could hear the motor trying to put it down, but just wouldn't do it. Any idea why?

lube it a little bit with some wd 40 or possibly vaseline.
it helps a little bit
kind of a pain but it minimizes the problem

I got a similar problem. I live in quebec so now, when temperature goes under 0 degres celcius , my antenna has a problem to go down and up. I tried to lube it but it doesn't work. The motor makes a stange sound (like somes steps). I think it has some difficulties to move the antenna. I verified all the antenna from the outside to make shure that it's not a stupid problem. Everything seems to be ok.

When the temperature goes up to 0 degres celcius , everything is working fine.

Do you have a idea what can I try ???

mine was like that but i didnt just spray it, i sprayed it, then put vaseline on it, then i had to move it up and down myself as someone else turned the radio on and off. i forced it up and down a little bit and tried to straighten it a little bit, if you know what i mean. dont get the wrong idea, i didnt go very tough on it. after making it go up and down over and over and working the lubricant into the cracks, it worked much better.
rite now it goes all the way down, but i still hear that weird "step" noise. i m not sure what that means.
let me know how you make out,

mike
