Default Moonroof conversion pics.....

Well after a long wait, I finally got my 5th gen moonroof in the mail today. Got it off Ebay for $263 shipped. It included a lot of stuff I didn't need for the swap, like the motor, frame, and sun shade, which jacked up the shipping, but oh well. The conversion is actually very easy, and took about 1 1/2 hours to do.

SUPER HONDA install guide/FAQ
Thanks to Si_g and Ludemandan for pointing me in the right direction.

Tell me what you think.

I think I might do the same conversion, but the other way. 4th gen roof into a 5th gen. It sounds crazy, but I've got my reasons.

Yeah that does sound crazy, but I understand if you are trying to shave a little weight off the top of your car. Be warned though, 4th gen moonroofs rust like crazy around the edges because of the way they are manufactured. Thats part of the reason I did it...mine was starting to grow some rust, that and it adds some baller stats.

Oh, and "prelood", it fits perfectly. It just takes a little grinding here and some drilling there. Btw, why did you get rid of your lude? Doesn't seem like you had it very long.

Nice job 2l2q! It's hard to see in your installed pic, but it looks pretty flush. Is it? Those other 5g tracks and slider parts might come in handy. Mine was just a little bit above the roof, but it bothered me knowing it was like that - plus it chattered a little bit on the freeway sometimes when it was closed - so the other day I wrenched out the 4g slider arms and put the 5g ones in, along with the 5g brackets (no drilling required for those!). That made it perfectly flush in back but point way up in front. :P So I put the front of the brackets in a vise and bent them down and then flat again to try and lower the mounting position. Now it only points up in front a little, although still too much for my taste. And now it rattles a little when it's open, but at least it's silent and snug when it's closed.
Let me know how it goes.

Dan

Yeah, the weather stripping around the edges sits just a little bit higher than the roof. Not too noticable though. I'm gonna try some little tweaks to make it sit a little more flush, but looks great how it is though.

Well, before I had a Prelude I had really high expectations for it, and when I got one, it didn't really meet them, I loved the car, it's just the not so great gas milage, and minor problems kept bugging me.

They are great cars though, I wish I could get like an 01 with no miles on it, but I would rather just save up for a nicer car.
