Default 89 Prelude Misfires

I Have An 89 Prelude Si. Sometimes It Happenens, Sometimes Not. After Warm Up, It Starts With A Misfire/chug. You Can Hear It At Idle, But Notice It Under Power. The Car Will Jerk And Make A Popping Sound. I Know Its Cutting Out. When I Push In The Clutch And Rev It Up....everything Is Great. Engage It In Gear Again,...misfire. It Does This Until A Check Engine Light Comes On.then It Runs Smooth Again,a Noticeable Power Loss...but Atleast It Runs Smooth Across The Board.almost Like The Engine Switches Channels Or Something.
I Have Done Tune-up,ect...

I Haven't Changed Any Sensors.map,o2,ect...

Any Ideas?

if its a misfire, its has to do with ignition components. could be bad or cracked spark plugs or damaged plug wires that are gounding out before the power gets to the plug. also, check your distributor cap and rotor for problems.

I have replaced the cap, plugs, rotor button ect... no joy. it has the "popping noise" too. I am going to shoot for the pcv valve this afternoon. I disconnected it already. It runs a little worse now, but the same way. does that valve come into play with my prob? thanks for the help by the way.

Find out what code the ECU is giving. There's a light on the ECU, under the carpet by the passengers feet (look for a square cut-out held closed with velcro) that blinks, you'll have to count the blinks.

Cool, I will check on the number of blinks. I changeg the pcv valve. It actually runs smoother, but is idled down a little lower. It is still cutting out about 15 minutes into driving it. I will check the light and post results. Thanks a bunch man...

A code 4 is for the TDC/Crank Angle Sensor. It's located inside the distributor, look at these pages for the troubleshooting flowchart: http://www.honda.co.uk/owner/Prelude...f100/6-152.pdf

A code 6 is the coolant temp sensor, located on the thermostat housing. look here: http://www.honda.co.uk/owner/Prelude...f100/6-156.pdf

I reset the codes. I will drive it for a day or so. WIll the codes ever reset themselves,or do I always have to pull the clock fuse to reset them?
