ATTS sends the torque to the wheel with fluid and hydraulic pressure. LSD is mechanical. I don't know which is better, since I've never driven a vehicle with LSD, and the difference in handling between the SH and my base was not worth the extra $3,000.00. I would think the LSD is more reliable than ATTS. By the way, which side of Cleveland do you live in?

Thanks for the info. I'll post the same thing in the ITR section. Maybe they have an opinion on which is better.
ATTS helps improves handling.
LSD will improve handling, free up torque, and help the launch.
You are right the $3000 higher isn't worth it when you can buy a Quiafe for $800 plus installation, and get more for your $$$.

Here u go:
ATTS:
More effective in re-directing torque during cornering
More effective in limiting spin on inside wheel during cornering
Eliminates understeer more effectively
Unique technology
LSD:
Lighter
Cheaper
More reliable
If effective when launching a car
Generally known to have a more natural feel
Is more effective in low traction situations (ie. rain and snow)
Honda test drivers claim about a 2sec improved laptime with ATTS on a ~1.5mile roadcourse(remember that stiffer suspension can also account for some of this difference). Whether that is worth it is for you to decide.

My post wasnt really about the Preludes ATTS and the ITRs LSD specifically. But if you wanna go in the snow in the ITR, dont forget to get real winter tires or else you're not going anywhere.

I drive a 2000 Type SH with the ATTS differential. It's almost entirely seamless but you'll notice it during any hard driving.
Does it improve handling? Well, it does reduce understeer but if you are skilled at handling a FWD car you will find it's limits soon enough. It can be a little slow to respond at times, which is readily apparent (I've heard) on a slalom course.
I didn't know as much about the car when I bought it. In retrospect I think a Base model with an aftermarket LSD added is better for an enthusiast.
If you just want a nice, fast sports coupe to drive and you don't race or modify beyond tires and brakes then the Type-SH is a great value and you'll probably be very happy with it
