Default 95 Prelude SI - How to remove door panel?

I am trying to install new speakers into the doors.

I've removed the screw in the door hand hold, and removed the hand hold pocket.

I've removed the screw on the bottom right and the one at the top left.

I've removed the screw for the window/lock switch and door handle/lock and removed the trim. I then released the harnesses for the switches and set aside the panel.

I've been told all I have left is to carefully pry the bottom right first then push up and remove the panel from the window jam.. but the panel just wont budge.

Is there any easier way to install front door speakers or am I just doing something wrong?

Thanks!
Justin

You're just not yanking hard enough. Pull it out by the map pocket, just tug hard and it will pop out. When you can swing the whole panel out, lift it up out of the window sill.

Yup, just pull harder. Also, it's slightly easier to lift the door panels out of the window sill if the windows are down.

i have your exact car, and it's kind of a bitch to get off. you unscrew all of the screws as you have done and at the bottom of the door panel there are plugs\clips keeping it attached to the door. you have pry those up, theres like 3-5 of them i think. but once you get those pryed off, pull up on the door panel and it should come up, not too easily in my case. what i did was put the window down, left the door open, and went to the outside of the door and just pulled it straight up. i went through the same confusion as you, but you should be able to get it.

imm considering taking off my door panel on my drivers side to lubricate the window motor and relating parts to it will stop making this dumdumdum sound when the window is rolling down. im not sure if its worth it. if I manage to take it off, how hard is it to get back on?

i didn want to have to do both, but the passenger door will be taken care of when I get my repairs done from the accident I was IN!!!!

I was crossing a busy road and traffic stopped on both sides to let me go. As i was going some lady passed the person letting me go, and ran into me as I was crossing. She hit my passenger door, but he damage seems to be all in the door panel and no others. Its stupid and after just getting my license I have to fill out all this garbage and have it taken care of.
Im pissedofff

Putting it back isn't hard at all. Just don't forget to plug the power mirror control back in. (I forget to do that a lot ) The more times you remove the door panel, the easier it gets. I've taken mine off a gazillion times for speaker/crossover stuff, power locks, dynamat, getting car painted, etc. and everytime it seems to get easier. It literally takes me like 30 seconds to remove mine.

BTW mikesta, looks like you picked up a pretty nice lude, sucks to hear about your little fender bender. Hope you get it fixed easily.

Take it easy

Yes, once you've done it a few times you can do it in your sleep.

Then when you try and do it on an Accord, you really appreciate how easily Preludes come apart.

mikesta: sucks about the crash! Well, let that be the only one.

2legit2quit: you're a 4th gen audio guy, do you have your setup posted somewhere? Pics maybe? Just curious.

More than likely. The previous owner of my car had the driver's side door replaced a couple years ago after some idiot backed into it.

Worst case scenario: repainted junkyard door.

Yeah, I've been wanting to post up some pics of my car on here.....I'll get around to it one of these days. I recently installed some new gear and I wouldn't mind showing it off.
