Default Climate Control problems

For a while my climate lighting has always messed with me.. as far as turning off & leaving me 2 have 2 hit it for it 2 come back on.. now the only thing that lights up are the 1st few buttons that ask where u want the air to blow from and now even that starts to go off. Everything else is off.. and when i was usin my a/c sumtiems the green light that says its on wud go off (turning my a/c off) and I wud have 2 bang it till it came back on. Is my best bet just taking this to the dealership? Thanx in advance..

Join the group. Remove it from the dash and make sure all the harnesses are fully plugged in also its your best bet to resolder all the connections. Hopefully someone else here can explain it a little bit better for you.

sounds like your climate control unit is bad ,common with honda the backlight bulbs are replaceable but the leds on each button is not . the unit usally works fine if you can live without the those lights, just change the background ones and call it a day .

This has happened to me since I did an LED conversion, all you have to do is pull the climate control unit out, and re-tighten the bulbs, they are lose (tighten with a small phillips head screwdriver) They are usually little blue plastic things on the top (at least in my 5th gen) :bigok: . When you hit it, and in the past have come back on, you are remaking the connection, now they have jarred far enough off that you can no longer hit it to jar them back into place.

EDIT: after re-reading this, I noticed its the little light above the button. I am not sure where this light is.

Uhm, do you realize this is a thread that was last posted to in June? Anyway, since you've brought this back up, I worked with entcee (member here) to create an LED conversion kit on http://www.ledautomotive.com/OrderInfo/97-01Prelude/ - check it out.

Hey Katana, I was just about to do the LED conversion on my climate control. I was gonna just dive in and figure it out myself, so that how to guide on that site probably saved me a lot of time. Anyways, since the 4th and 5th gens controls are basicly the same, that would work just the same for the 4th gen right?

Thanks

It should, but I really don't know. The bulb setup should be similar tho.
