Hey Guys,
Took my 2.3 92' Lude to a smog test and failed it like crazy man.. I live in the Plano Area and I dunno wat to do next. Looks like a new cat and other stuff. But the test place gave me a free test anytime in the next 2 weeks .Do U guys think there are any DYI for clearing a smog test in Tx. ??? Never had a smog test coz I was in ohio all the while. Texas sure suxxx big time.

Try the basics; Plugs/wires/rotor/cap. Also fill up with some high octane fuel.
Also as it was posted before, Cali is way gnarlier.

If you really dont want to bother with it just find a different place in town that doesn't test smog. I live in Northern Texas and the little hole in the wall shops that give inspections rarely check for emissions. Just a thought though. Replace catalytic convertor and maybe run one of those emissions passing fuel additives (no experience with those) should help you pass emissions legally. Also make sure the timing is correct with factory specs.

oil change, run your car for about a hour before the test and try this stuff out, they sell it at your local pepboys

Hey guys,
Changed the cat converter, Cleaned plugs and all the other stuff. Still did not work. Smog readings too high. Also the car burns out way too much engine oil i guess. 2 quarts for 500 miles. Thats way toooo much. No indication of leaks. Have no f***ing clue whats happening.

morphius,
if the NO reading is high, than focus on EGR valve and port cleaning. take apart throttle body and clean that out and inlet port to EGR. My 91 previa with 250k miles failed ohio emissions and after cleaning passed to better than new.
