Default Speakers, what fits? 5th Gen

Ok, does anyone know if 6 1/2"'s will fit in the doors? Circuit City sais yes, but Crutchfield sais no. I am wanting to add Infinity Reference 6 1/2's in the doors and Infinity Reference 6x9's in the rear without having to alter the factory grilles much, if any at all. It's just that what one site sais fits my 5th Gen Prelude, another sais won't fit. Any suggestions? I am positive I want Infinity, having heard them in my friend's F-150, they sound awesome. I have an Alpine head unit, so I won't be using my facory radio, if that helps in anyone's suggestions.

You need to watch out for the speaker depth with the doors. Are you looking at component speakers up front?

No, I just wnat to put some Infinty 2 ways up front. I was thinking that the shallow depth speakers would work, am I wrong? What are you guys running in the doors, maybe I try somehting different up front, and just keep the Infinty 6x9's out back.

To mount anything deeper than the stock speakers, you will have to cut out the plastic molding basket in the door. However, if you go too deep you'll interfere with the window. I have Boston Accoustic speakers in my car, and I have about a quarter of an inch clearance between the magnet and the window gears.

Also, since you are replacing the factory head unit, you will need to bypass the rear stock amp (has to do with the Accoustic Feedback garbage). It's a little black box mounted under the rear deck between the rear speakers (close to the seatback lock release).

As far as the rear speakers, will any 6x9's work?

I use all stock sizes (6.5" in the doors, 1" tweeter, and 6x9's in the rear deck)

They are the rally series I think. I can't remember exactly, since they're 5 years old. I've had them since I bought the car brand new

I thought stock size in the doors was 5 1/4". Am I wrong?

You mentioned 5th gen Prelude, so 5th gen is 1997-2001 which has 6.5" mids in the lower kickpannel of the doors, 1" tweeters by the door lock switches, and 6x9" rear deck.
