Default 99 prelude auto transmission problem

Bought my 99 last december and so far have had the worst luck ever with it. Shock knock has been in to get fixed 2 times, back making noise again, replaced timing/balancer belt already and now im having trans. problems. My car is 100% stock and never raced, driven very easy. It takes a long time for my car to shift when trying to accelerate lightly, it will keep rev'n steady until you either give it more gas or let off the gas, then it will shift to the next gear....and its not a smooth shift, more of a jolt. Sometimes when cruising it cant decide if it wants to shift or not and almost feels like it gets stuck in between gears, the tach will fluctuate up and down like 100rpms. Has anyone had problems like this and could it possibly be something electrical or sensor related? I bought this car to use as a daily driver thinking it would go on forver like my 89 accord did, but its not cooperating, it just hit 90k miles.

Go to Preludeonline.com and read the first thread. This is commmon for your car, and you should prepare to either buy a remanufactured tranny or a new one because these SS trannies from 97-99 don't usually last past 100K unless you are very lucky. I replaced mine at 80K miles. There are hundreds of complaints against Honda and on the NTSB website. Honda finally corrected the problem in 2000 by issuing a safety recall for all 00-01 Preludes but excluded the previous models, because their accounting dept, having realized more Preludes were sold from 97-99 would have caused detrimental profit loss in the regard of transmission repairs. This is a very old story, and you should do your own research to better prepare yourself for some heartache, soon.

that is very disturbing

thanks for the heads up on this, I have already spent way too much time and money on this car for the few months I've owned it. I think I will just trade it in on something with a warranty.
