hey my friend has a 91 SI prelude and it doesn't run cuz it needs a new engine so he said to give him 500. it was used only for six months since it was bought cuz someone put sugar in the gas tank so i'm just goin to flush the tank and modernize the fuel lines and put in a new enigne. is it worth it for 500. it's awd isn't it? tell me what you guys thinke about the 3rd gen preludes cons and pros thanx

go for it. 500 is a good deal. look for rust around the sunroof, around the gascap, side panels in front of the rear wheels, and around the wheel well.

expect to pay 500-650 for a "new" engine. If you have the time and knowhow, i'd reccommend rebuilding the b21a1 and buying a b20a5 head and putting it on the b21 block, esp. if you're going to stay NA. that combo will raise the compression to 10.0:1 or 10.1:1, as opposed to the 9.4:1 of the (usdm) b21a1 and (jdm) b20a, and the 9.0:1 of the (usdm) b20a5.

the 3g lude is a great car. If you do get it, www.prelude3g.com and www.preludepower.com have great resources and volumes of information on it.

BE WARNED: This car has next to no aftermarket, but we 3rd genners find ways around that

Nope.

 

If you're planning on doing any kind of swap, I would first don't buy the lude for $500 for a car not running & no aftermarket love. I would look for a 88-91 Civic hatch or Crx. Also you could look for a 86-89 Integra.Lots more aftermarket items.You can always drop a ZC engine or B series. You'll love the after market love. How much hp does the lude engine have you mentioned?

 

uh oh looks like my research is lacking. Y is the jdm b20a have higher compression than the b20a5? I am building a b20a right now, and i have planned to order parts as if it were a b20a5 cuz until now i thought the only difference was the cams.
