Default Big Problem... Please Help!!!!! Confused

Im confused. Ill be driving in my 98 lude for about a half an hour or so, when all of a sudden Im in first gear hitting 5000 rpms and going about 5 mph. Same in 2nd. I try to accelerate but cant get past at most 20 mph. Idk what it could be. The problem was first diagnosed by my very reputable mechanic as my clutch, so I had it replaced about a week ago and the problem is still there. I havent gotten a chance to tell him yet. In the meantime can anyone think of any other problems this might be. Thanks.

Doesn't sound like it's fully going gear...shifter or a clutch problem? Just my two cents..

Not only rebleed the clutch but check that the release fork is not damaged or riding on the throwout bearing-you can see wear on it if it is.

Ok. My mechanic can bleed the clutch system, but I was wondering exactly what the steps are to doing this just for my own knowledge. Is it an easy DIY? And Predude, howd u find out what the problem was, howd u fix it, and how much did it cost?

If there is air in the clutch, it will feel loose. To bleed it, pop the resevoir cap, and press the clutch 15,000 times or when ever the clutch comes all the way back to the top.

It could be a main bearing as well, if it needs replacing it can spill out oil onto the clutch disk to make it slip, although this and the clutch slipping would be more noticeable in a higher gear, and if your mechanic was in there recently he should've noticed oil on the old disk. I'd work on bleeding the system first because it doesn't cost anything, if that doesn't work then take it back to your mechanic...that what you payed him for.
