Default Operating Tempratures

Question!

What do you think the normal operating tempratures for a h22a motor are? Or really, for any 4 cyl (vtec) engine? I'm trying to make my own temprature gauge, and I need to know an approximate range.

What the highest temp the engine will get, do you think?

160 - 280. I guess... I'm pretty sure anything over 280 is too hot!

Ok the range dosn't matter any more becuase I found a thermometer with a maximum of 300 degress! Wooo!

ok so the deal is this, I've extended a 6 inch probe thermometer into a 7 foot one, and it still works! this is awesome! now, where do i place it under the hood?

I think the intake of the radiotor would be good. Is there a safe way to get the probe touching the actual water in the radiator without it leaking? Or how are normal temp gauges set up?
