Default Changing to CF Hood

I am looking into getting a CF hoold for my lude. Got a few questions.

- How much weight can I reduce by changing to a CF hood?
- Are CF hoods heat sustainable in general?
- Can a CF hood handle a front end accident? Would it crack into pieces?
- What brand is good?

Thanks a lot.

I Just got one for my 5th gen, it seems myabe 20-25 lbs lighter, it is pretty sturdy just dont like jump on it or anything haha, it will probably crack easily if you hit something, or someone. ViS, carbonworx, are a few good brands.

I too have a VIS OEM style CF hood on my 5th gen.....
to be more specific and answer your question about
the weight difference, my factor hood is 47lbs and my
CF hood is only 11lbs....so yes you will save some weight
that way.

Now as for crash testing, I am not too sure. I have heard
many comments about it. Some say it will flex, others say
it will shatter. I for one hope to never find out. But I guess
physics will have a lot to determine the unfortunate demise
of a CF hood at certain times of unwanted destruction !!!!!
