header question
what i wanted to know is if pacesetter is a good header for my 88 prelude si. If not then im jus gonna get the neuspeed header instead, but they only have the 90-91, but will the header fit on my car? i think it will since the 3rd gens are 88-91 but jus wanna recheck myself. thanx.
pacesetter is bottom of the line, neuspeed falls in the middle, and DC Sports are top of the line (but discontinued) for us.
You will need to order an 88-89 as manufacturers use this designation for the b20a5 engine, and 90-91 for the b21a1 engine.
The difference between the two is the number of and location of the O2 sensors.

I didnt want to start a new thread so im gonna throw this in here....i have a 5th gen lude 5spd....i got a v2...aem tru power pulleys...nology hot wires....denso iridium plugs. Im not plannin on gettin an exhuast, but i am interested in a header and a high flow cat. Ive seen some headers on ebay for like 80-150 bucks. Since im not gonna do an exhaust, but only a header and high flow cat, is it worth it saving up for a top of the line header, or will these no name headers be ok for me? Im jus looking for a more tuned and deeper sound...hopefully a header and high flow cat will give me that...im not that interested in power, but how much hp and sound wud i gain with a ebay header and a decent high flow cat?
for a 5th gen, if you're looking to not spend much money, you might want to look into DC Sports. should be like 300-350. but honestly, the gains out of it is very minimal and almost not worth the effort. if you want to see decent gains, be prepared to shell out some money for Mugen or an equivalent.

the header and cat wouldn't help if you kept the stock catback piping. exhaust flow would be limited by the smallest diameter section in the system, which would be the ~2" piping from the exhaust. You might see a slight improvement in power and def a change in the exhaust note, however, i don't think it's worth spending tons of money on a nice header if you're going to use the stock exhaust.
installing a header and a hi flow cat will almost be pointless to do if your not going to do a full exhaust setup. just think of it this way...free-flowing exhaust out of the block and then hitting a brick wall from the stock exhaust. It will just completely restrict the air flow. If your gonna do it, do it right. dont do it half-assed or you will never be satisfied. good luck man.
