Default H22A4 Engine rebuild kit?

Ok, I'm thinking of rebuilding my engine, now that I have a new job and bringing in some extra money. I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a conplete rebuild kit for the H22A4 that I can purchase. I want to go all NA, and it still be a daily driver. I don't wnat to spend more than $1500 in partse, because I have to factor in the labor. Any help here would be appreciated. Also, if there isn't a kit that anyone knows of, any setup reccomendations that will cost me $1500-1750 in parts willbe sufficient as well.

Hell, any rebuild shop should be able to do it under $2k. If you're not doing the job yourself, there isn't much point in buying the parts yourself.

Get a compression and leak down test done. If they turn out OK, don't even bother with a rebuild yet.

When you say rebuild this could mean a number of things. I agree that a compression and leakdown test should be first on your expense list. This will tell you the condition of the rings, valves and seals. The mileage and use of the car is also a factor in what is worn.
Personally, I would replace all of the belts, water pump, tensioners, PCV valve and any piece that remotely looks bad (hoses rarely fail I have found). If you are not the original owner like me then you must do at least this much since you probably do NOT have the service record for the car.
My Honda tech examined the bottom end by taking off the pan and looking for shavings in our 89 CRX-he found no evidence of wear. His answer-no teardown as the motor was still strong with 176k on it. Be sure to change the spark plugs, cap and rotor along with the wires-stock will be fine. To keep your cost in range buy only the gaskets you absolutely need-valve cover for one as you will do a valve adjustment. Flush and fill the radiator with Honda fluid-trust me on this one. Also flush, fill and bleed both the brakes and clutch. If you have an SS like mine-have a Honda dealer-no one else please-do a full tranny service. This is critical to the life of the SS gearbox. If you plan on doing engine management (A/F) controllers make sure that the solenoids for vtec are ok along with the cam seals.
The cost of what I have just described will be well over $1k at a dealer. The advantage is that they give you a warranty on their work. They also use factory methods and parts. Some will argue that you can and should do this project yourself. I have my own shop and a certified tech available if I get in trouble. Yet, my Prelude is serviced by my original selling dealership.
