My friend just bought a Gti VR6 were going to race as soon as it stops raining but who do you think will win. I haven't raced anybody since i bought my 94 vtec so i dont know how well it will do. the gti is rated at 174hp with 181 while the vtec is 190 at 161 i think.i also have 18 in rims on my car. were are average drivers.

the gti will destroy you!.
I know cause I used to eat people just like you with preludes when my gti was stock!.
I believe the GTI is lighter also.

GTi's are heavier.

the 24V would be faster, the 12v it's hard to say.

Mine is a 98 its lighter than the new models. Im not sure on their weight though.

The 12v ( 4cyl ) is definitely slower than the prelude so yes you'll take the 4cyl.

If your racing in the tracks and stuff and taking turns etc......the vw will take ya cause of its torque coming out of the turns etc...

the 12V VR6 is the 170 bhp version, the 24V is the 200 bhp version.

the mkIII GTI weighs in at 2800 lbs so it is lighter.

at a track, the GTI doesn't stand a chance with equal drivers. the rear suspension design on a GTI is utter shiet. the prelude will eat most modern VW's up at a road course.
